ALS® Course

1) What is ALS ?

The Advanced Life Support (ALS) course, is the official approved by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) seminar, aimed at preparing members of the cardiac arrest team in treating a patient from the begining of such event, until his transfer to the  intensive care. Training involves managing complex cardiac arrest situations, decision-making and effective communication with other team members, and with relatives of the patient.

2) Who is it for ?

The ALS seminar is designed for health professionals who will apply the skills  taught either in the clinical practice, or will become instructors. The ALS seminar is aimed at physicians and nurses that work in Emergency, CCU, ICU, and Surgery, as well as physicians, nurses and rescuers who are members of the Medical Emergency Response Team.

3) Seminar Structure

The seminar consists of lectures, discussions, tutorials, skill stations, and simulation of life-threatening situations with the use of mannequins and defibrillators.

The ALS seminar takes place across Europe, based on the guidelines and quality control of the ERC.

The number of participantsper seminar  is  limited to 24, divided into groups of 5-6 people with two trainers in each group.

The seminar is conducted in Greek, the ALS  manual and corresponding slides are in English.
The formal assessment of the participant takes place at the end of the course with written and oral exams.

Successful completion of  the ALS course, awards the participant the title of ALS provider, valid internationally for 4 years. At the end of the period recertification is required.

The certificate of attendace is issued at the end of the seminar,  using the on line interface to European Resuscitation Council system.

4) Duration

The ALS is a two day seminar (10 hours per day approximately).

5) Participation fee

The participation fee for this seminar is €300.
