Thrombosis – Haemostasis Institute

The Institute of Thrombosis – Haemostasis utilizing the most modern technology and experience of internationally recognized experts in the field of Thrombosis and Haemostasis is able to provide expert diagnoses based on more specialized tests and  which allow:

  • direct and precise estimate of acquired and inherited coagulation disorders
  • monitoring of the effectiveness of all antithrombotic drugs

Diagnosis of thrombotic and bleeding disorders

Estimated risk of thrombosis or bleeding in:

  • cancer patients
  • patients with atherosclerotic disease
  • pregnant women
  •  women undergoing in vitro fertilization
  • women undergoing hormone replacement therapy
  • diagnosis of inherited and acquired disorders of platelet coagulation and fibrinolysis
  • diagnosis of autoimmune diseases that raise the risk of thrombosis or bleeding

Antithrombotic treatment efficacy control

Monitoring the effectiveness and safety of anticoagulant treatment

This check-up is recommended for:

  • patients taking anti-platelet therapy due to percutaneous coronary angioplasty, or angioplasty of the carotid, aorta and peripheral vessels,
  • patients with a history of thrombosis and stroke or those who are at high risk of atherothrombosis (hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes)
  • pregnant women
  • elderly patients
  • cancer patients
  • patients with renal failure or malfunction
  • obese or underweight patients

Modern haematologic and genetic methods offer the possibility of:

  • Assessment of platelet function by aggregation method in whole blood and flow cytometry
  • Estimation of the mechanism of clotting and vascular damage with thrombin generation study thromboelastometry, fibrinolysis time and measurement of molecular markers of the vascular wall lesion
  • Diagnosis of thrombophilia or bleeding by counting all of the physiological factors and inhibitors of coagulation
  • Investigation of mutations associated with the risk of venous thrombosis
  • Investigation for the presence of lupus anticoagulant and antiphospholipid syndrome
  • Control of antithrombotic treatment, with quantification of the active drug concentration, to assess the effect of the overall haemostatic mechanism and pharmacogenetic methods
